Most industry types are working. Some lucky thousands are hungover at Cannes. And I've got to go pick up my daughter after lunch. So I'll try and keep this brief.
I just won a Bronze Lion for an outdoor campaign.
Which is great. Steve, my ex-partner, called from the agency to let me know.
Because, well... I don't work there any more.
Anyhow, I would like to show my kids what this bronze lion is. I hope they're not disappointed. They think it is soft and interactive like a Webkinz, even though i said it's not.
One thing, they think it is odd that you have to buy a trophy you've won. It isn't that way in tee-ball after school.
I mean, I might not have to buy it myself. Heck, maybe someone from the agency will call and say that one is in the mail. But, as it's turned out, I think I should start raising the money myself.
That's the kind of guy I am: self-starting, take initiative, keep the ball rolling.
Now, I don't need much of a donation. Just a few bucks here and there. Sort of like if you bought me a drink if I was in Cannes beside you, rather than at home playing wooden blocks with my daughter.
It won't be tax deductible. I can't even offer you a real receipt. I mean, I can write one up but I don't know if the finance people would consider it legit.
But you can send me an email and i'll send you my address.
Yikes, I'm late.
Oh, and if you want a writer, I've got time to talk. I'll just get Mary to look after Nora full-time again.
(If you're in Capetown, AU or NZ, I'll have to call you collect.)
